My name is Catherine Shelley and I am an Australian Commonwealth Government Authorised Civil Celebrant.

 

Only authorised (registered) marriage celebrants, have the authority to perform marriages in Australia. A civil marriage celebrant, in Australia, is a private person authorised by the Australian Government, to perform legal civil marriages in a dignified and culturally acceptable manner, for those who do not wish to choose a religious ceremony.

 

I can, as a celebrant, also serve those who have religious beliefs, but do not wish to be married in a church, temple or mosque. I therefore, do not come from the standpoint of belief or non belief; I offer my services  professionally and on the principle that my own beliefs and values, are irrelevant.
